The Grizzlies beat Lakeland High last night 8-0. Goals were scored by Marley Goodrich (8), Brennan Godfrey (8), Ava Blanco (13), and Charlie Norton (3). Assists by Casie Turner (7), Sydney Holland (3), Temi Ojo (1), Emma Scacci (1), Brennan Godfrey (5), Ava Blanco (3), and Analeah Garcia (1). The girls are looking strong and are ready to close out the season with games vs Hickory and Great Bridge!

Girls JV Soccer beat Ocean Lakes 5-0! Four goals scored by #9 Cailyn Ream and one goal by #20 Marley Goodrich. #3 Sydney Holland, #18 Brennan Godfrey, #2 Ava Blanco all had one assist and #11 Casie Turner had two. The girls logged their first win on the season and is looking forward to the three-game week starting on Monday vs. Kellam.

The JV girls’ soccer team faced a tough challenge against First Colonial and unfortunately suffered a 0-5 loss. Despite the outcome, the girls displayed resilience and perseverance throughout the game.

While the result may not have been what they hoped for, the team recognizes the valuable lessons learned from this experience. They remain optimistic and eager to apply these lessons as they continue their journey on the pitch.

With their determination and commitment to improvement, the JV girls look forward to their next opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at their best.

The Grizzlies faced off against Kellam and unfortunately suffered a 0-3 loss. Despite the outcome, the Grizzlies showed resilience and determination throughout the match, holding strong against their opponents for the first 60 minutes. Goalkeeper #1 Gracie Strickland showcased her exceptional skills, making several outstanding saves to keep the team in contention. Her performance was instrumental in maintaining the defensive line and preventing further goals. Looking ahead, the girls will regroup and prepare for their next challenge as they face FC tomorrow at FC. With their tenacity and teamwork, they aim to bounce back stronger and secure a positive result in game two of the season.       • In a thrilling conclusion to their season, the Grizzlies girls faced off against the formidable Hickory Hawks. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Grizzlies came up short with a 5-3 loss.
      • The Grizzlies’ goals came courtesy of Alexa Ivey (10) and Temi Ojo (3), demonstrating their exceptional scoring abilities on the field. Assists were provided by Kaelin Parris (6) and Temi Ojo (2). Additionally, the Grizzlies benefited from an own goal by the Hawks, further adding to the scoring tally.
      • While the final result may not have been in their favor, the Grizzlies can reflect on their season with immense pride. Their overall record of 12 wins and only 3 losses is a testament to their skill and determination. The team embarked on an impressive 10-game winning streak, showcasing their consistency and ability to dominate their opponents.
      • Offensively, the Grizzlies were a force to be reckoned with, scoring a remarkable 87 goals throughout the season. Their attacking prowess was complemented by a solid defense that only conceded 15 goals, resulting in a remarkable +72 goal differential. This outstanding statistic highlights the team’s ability to both find the back of the net and maintain a resolute defensive line.
      • As the season comes to a close, the Grizzlies should be immensely proud of their accomplishments. They have shown great growth, resilience, and teamwork throughout their journey.

      • The winning streak was extended by the Grizzly Girls to 10 games as they traveled to Indian River and put 11 goals in the net while Keeper, Gracie Strickland finished the game with a clean sheet.  The attacking barrage came from two goals each by Cailyn Ream (2) and Alexa Ivey (9). Also contributing were Ava Blanco (10), Amara Groth (3), Haley Rosenbaum (2), Temi Ojo (2), Lydia Kreutzberg (1), Charlie Norton (6) and Brennan Godfrey (6)
      • The Grizzly Girls showcased their dominance and attacking prowess in an extraordinary feat, securing back-to-back wins on consecutive days. Not only did they extend their winning streak, but they did so in a commanding fashion, scoring a staggering 20 goals across the two matches while keeping their opponents from finding the back of the net.

      • The Grizzly Girls hosted the Oscar Smith Tigers in hope of continuing their winning streak. With hat tricks by Ava Blanco (9) and Charlie Norton (5) and additional goals by Mary Hardy (4), Temi Ojo (1) and Haley Rosenbaum (1) the Grizzlies extended their winning streak to 9 Games.
      • The Grizzly Girls’ cohesive teamwork and relentless determination were evident throughout the match. Their solid defensive efforts limited the Tigers’ scoring opportunities, while their dynamic attacking play allowed them to capitalize on their chances as they beat the Tigers 9-0.

      • “The girls played a phenomenal game tonight, and I’m incredibly proud of how they battled,” exclaimed the coach Whitney Roberson. The Grizzlies secured a magnificent 2-0 victory, with goals scored by #2 Ava Blanco (6) and #10 Alexa Ivey (7). Their teammates #23 Kaelin Parris (4) and #8 Sydney Busquets (2) provided crucial assists. This remarkable performance adds to their extended winning streak, showcasing their exceptional skills and unwavering determination.

      • In tonight’s game, the JV girls’ soccer team put on an impressive performance, defeating the Kings Fork Bulldogs with a final score of 9-0. This marks the team’s seventh consecutive win in a row, with an incredible record of six clean sheets, allowing only two goals while scoring a total of 41 goals throughout the streak.
      • The team’s defense and keepers have been a standout during the win streak, consistently shutting down opposing teams and preventing them from scoring. Their strong performances have allowed the team to dominate their opponents and secure wins.
      • On the offensive side, the team has been equally impressive, scoring an impressive total of 41 goals in their seven-game win streak. The offense has been led by a combination of talented players who have worked together to create and capitalize on scoring opportunities.

      • The Grizzly girls secured their second consecutive win as they travelled to Western Branch and defeated the Bruins 3-2, with goals from #3 Sydney Hollands (2) and #10 Alexa Ivey (2). This win marks a strong finish going into Spring break as the team can now focus on their upcoming district games with confidence and determination.

      • The Grizzly girls won last night 4-0 vs. Smithfield. Peyton Fuleron (10) scored a hat trick and Alexa Ivey (1) netted her first goal of the season. The girls played with lots of energy after not playing for a while. We play Western Branch Thursday and hope to see similar results!

      • Despite having scored 20 goals in two previous games, the Grizzlies’ scoring momentum came to an unexpected halt during their game against Kellam. Despite their best efforts, they failed to notch a single goal, ultimately resulting in a disappointing 0-2 loss.

      • The Grizzlies proved unstoppable in their latest match against Ocean Lakes, scoring a remarkable 8 goals while keeping a clean sheet. From the opening whistle, the Grizzlies took control of the game, attacking relentlessly and showcasing their impressive offensive firepower. The Grizzly soccer girls are undoubtedly proving to be a force to be reckoned with this season. With back-to-back wins, they are setting the bar high for themselves and their competition.  Two goals by Charlie Norton (2), and one goal each by Peyton Fuleron (4), Maddie Laughinghouse (3), Mary Hardy (1), Amara Groth (2), Sydney Holland (1) and an own goal.

      • The Grizzlies had an explosive start to their new season, dominating Landstown from the first whistle and putting an impressive 12 goals into the net. The scoring began early and didn’t let up throughout the game, showcasing the Grizzlies’ offensive prowess and skill. Ultimately, the referees called the game early, awarding a resounding victory to the Grizzlies. It was a convincing performance that sets the tone for the rest of the season and puts the rest of the league on notice. Hat trick goals by Peyton Fuleron (3) and Brennan Godfrey (3), two goals by Maddie Laughinghouse (2), and one goal each by Ava Blanco (1), Natalie Dietz (1), Ella Ruane, and Amara Groth (1).

      • On the first scrimmage of the 2023 season the Grizzlies fall 4-1 to Kellam. Maddie Laughinghouse (1) scored a PK for GHS in the final 8 minutes. The team played well together, although the results were not what we were looking for, the team displayed great energy and effort.

      • The Grizzly train came into the station as the Grizzlies traveled to Hickory for their last game of the season.  But this train did not stop prior to the Grizzlies shutting out Hickory Hawks 3-0 to finish with 6 straight shutouts and 7 wins in a row on goals by Sydney Holland (10), Ellie Kreutzberg (7) and Jillian Kemp (18).  Congratulations Grizzlies for an undefeated District season while scoring 39 goals and allowing only 2.

      • This Grizzly train keeps rolling as the Grizzlies put another in the W column on the way to their 5th straight shutout and 6th win in a row.  On a wet, gray evening the Grizzlies took care of business, and on a 3 goal Hat Trick by Ellie Kreutzberg (6) two goals by Sydney Holland (9) and on goal each by Madelyn Laughinghouse (5), Jillian Kemp (17), Bryana Garcia (5), and Lydia Kreutzberg (2), put 9 goals between the posts to beat the Indian River Braves 9-0.   Next up for the Grizzlies, a road game at the Hickory Hawks.

      • Grizzlies return home after 4 straight road games, but for these Grizzlies home or road doesn’t matter as they keep rolling.  This time the unlucky opponents were the Oscar Smith Tigers who were held scoreless as the Grizzlies put 13 into the net.  The Grizzlies on three goals by Jillian Kemp (16), two goals by Ellie Kreutzberg (3) and Madelyn Laughinghouse (4) and one goal each by Payton Fularon (2), Ava Blanco (2), Kennedy Reid (3), Sydney Holland (7), Ella Ruane (1) and Mia Erdner (5) make it five straight wins and four straight shutouts.  Next up for the Grizzlies, the Indian River Braves.

      • Another game another road game for the Grizzlies, these Grizzlies are definitely road warriors as they earned their 4th straight road win with 3rd straight shutout.  The Grizzlies got two unassisted goals from Jillian Kemp (13) to earn a 2-0 win over the Great Bridge Wildcats.  For their next game, the Grizzlies will finally be home as they host the Oscar Smith Tigers

      • The Grizzlies make it three road games in a row with 3 wins and 3 shutouts.  This time the Grizzlies traveled to Kings Fork Bulldogs and on two goals by Bryana Garcia (4) and Mia Erdner (4) and one goal each by Jillian Kemp (11), Madelyn Laughinghouse (2), Payton Fularon (1), Ellie Kreutzberg (1), Kennedy Reid (2), Sydney Holland (6), Ava Gyori (1), Lydia Kreutzberg (1), and Ava Blanco (1) put 13 goals in the net for a 13-0 win over the Kings Fork Bulldogs.  Next up for these Grizzlies is another road game at the Great Bridge Wildcats.

Goals were scored by #21 Peyton Fuleron (9), #10 Alexa Ivey (3), two by #2 Ava Blanco (3) , two by #20 Natalie Dietz (4), #22 Mary Hardy (2), and #5 Amara Groth (2). Assist were made by #21 Peyton Fuleron (2), #10 Alexa Ivey, #22 Mary Hardy, and #4 Cailyn Ream. Kiera Lawhead had a clean sheet. We have found a groove and will continue to battle. Next week we face Lakeland at home and Nansemond River away.

      • Last night’s soccer game was an impressive victory for the Grizzlies, who triumphed 5-0 over the Western Branch Bruins. The Grizzlies displayed their skill and determination, executing their game plan to perfection. The team scored five goals, with contributions from #21 Peyton Fuleron (8), #2 Ava Blanco (2), #3 Sydney Holland (4) who scored twice, and #20 Natalie Dietz (2). The goals were expertly assisted by #23 Mary Hardy (who assisted twice), #3 Sydney Holland, #24 Kaelin Parris, and #10 Alexa Ivey. Both Gracie Strickland and Mackenzie Merrero, the team’s keepers, had clean sheets for the night, preventing Western Branch from scoring any goals. It was an impressive display of teamwork and athleticism, with each player contributing to the team’s success. he girls played with energy and heart, battling for a full 70 minutes and kicking off their district games with a resounding victory.
